Logan Lake Day

Logan Lake Day

Residents and visitors of all ages are promised a day of sparkle and excitement on SUNDAY, JULY 31st when the District of Logan Lake hosts Logan Lake Day.

No matter what your age and stage of life, event coordinator, Charlene Vandean, has guaranteed there’ll be something for everyone.

The day will begin with participants in the 4th Annual Vintage Car show setting up in Maggs Park. And, for those with early morning growlies, Lions Club will host a pancake breakfast at the Rec Centre. This will be followed by a church service in the downtown amphitheatre from 10 – 11 a.m. with the Logan Lake churches making this a truly cooperative celebration.

A traffic situation to make note of is that Jasper Avenue will be closed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate the motor cross trick jumpers highlighted by the acrobatic feats of Kris from Kelowna’s Global FMX who has a 20 year career defying gravity!  The shows are scheduled for 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. so find a comfortable, up-front place to “lounge” while Kris and his team make temperatures rise even higher!!

Not your style? Then why not try gold-panning with Yukon Dan, an internationally acclaimed gold panner, or take the family on a horse-drawn buggy ride around the park?
And families should be SURE to check out the Kids’ Zone with its 6 inflatables, a clown and face painting!

Hungry? Thirsty? Again this year, at concessions outside the Rec Centre, there’ll be temptations for every taste including: fresh fruit smoothies, pulled pork and beef brisket sandwiches with chocolate dipped bacon for dessert, smokies and hand-cut fries, and fresh-made donuts.

Feeling as if you could do with a rest? Want to sit at a table to eat your lunch/snack? Then head into the Rec Centre where you’ll be able to sit, relax and be entertained by the “cool” duo of Kenny and Brian who’ll be “dishing up” country comedy together with 60’s music tributes. You can look forward to magical entertainment suitable for all ages!

The vintage car show, the food vendors, and the on-the-ground events are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The District will give folks a chance to go home, wash sticky hands and faces, change clothes and to then head back to the Rec Centre for a series of movies.  The first is EPIC, a current, major blockbuster running at 5 p.m. and something you DON’T WANT TO MISS!! The Great Gatsby runs at 7 p.m. and the day will conclude with the G.I. Joe Retaliation production at 9:30 p.m. for an adult audience. Why not bring your own snacks and pop to the shows to stave off the hunger pains?

Because  things can and do change, be sure to stay “tuned” to what’s happening with Logan Lake Day by checking out www.loganlakeday.com or on  Facebook Logan Lake Day.

So folks, mark your calendars NOW! Gather your friends and family and plan on attending Logan Lake Day on Sunday, August 4.
